Stand-alone plots

The following plots are produced with simple selections, explained in the figure caption.

J/ψ and ψ(2s) candidates
J/ψ→μμ and ψ(2s)→μμ candidates; plot shows all oppositely charged di-muon pairs passing vertexing with invariant masses between 2.5 and 4.2 GeV. Events which fire any of the following triggers are accepted:
  • a single muon at level 1, confirmed at high-level trigger (HLT) with cuts of either 4, 6 or 10 GeV applied;
  • a single muon at L1, confirmed at HLT with cuts of either 4 or 6 GeV applied, and then a second muon found at HLT in the same region of interest (RoI) as the L1 muon. The two muons are required to be in the invariant mass range 0.5<Mμμ<12.0 GeV, or in the range 2.4<Mμμ<4.2 GeV;
  • a pair of muons at L1, both confirmed at HLT with cuts of (4,4) or (4,6) GeV applied.The two muons are required to be in the invariant mass range 0.5<Mμμ<12.0 GeV

Additionally the pair of muons are required to have a minimum pT of (2.5, 4) GeV as calculated by the offline reconstruction. At least one high-quality (“combined”) muon is required in each pair. The signal lineshape fits are both Gaussian with a third-order polynomial to model the background. The plot corresponds to an integrated luminosity of around 41 pb-1.

Di-muon invariant mass in the region of the ψ and Υ meson families - both muons in the barrel
Υ(1s,2s,3s)→μμ candidates; plots shows all oppositely charged di-muon pairs with invariant masses between 8 and 12 GeV, where both muons are detected in the barrel. Events firing the following triggers are used, with progressively more selective triggers applied as the instantaneous luminosity rises:
  • a single muon at level 1 (L1) without further selection
  • a single muon at level 1, confirmed at high-level trigger (HLT) with cuts of either 4 or 6 GeV applied;
  • a single muon at L1, confirmed at HLT with cuts of either 4 or 6 GeV applied, and then a second muon found at HLT in the same region of interest (RoI) as the L1 muon. The two muons are required to be in the invariant mass range 0.5<Mμμ<12.0 GeV;
  • a single muon at L1, confirmed at HLT with cuts of either 4 or 6 GeV applied, and then a second muon found at HLT anywhere in the detector. The two muons are required to be in the invariant mass range 0.5<Mμμ<12.0 GeV or in the range 8.0<Mμμ<12.0 GeV;
