 Generation
  • Ask her to review Generating Events.
  • Find out if Vertex Smearing has errors in code, and if I can find an interesting histogram to show.

We decided: he has review comments on his twiki Reorganize computing model, framework and analysis workflow

Computing model: move first image of Computing model to framework

a. Tier structure; what's available at each tier T0: central, tape for RAW backup, something RECO, CAF for time-critical, no analysis, T1: distributed, tape archive of FEVT (raw +reco), substantial CPU for re-reconstruction and skimming T2: subst CPU, no tape, MC production, limited disk, user analysis b. data flow through tier structure (have it already) c MC flow " " " (new info) MC produced at T2, archived at T1 (use old flow diagram, reverse arrows...) d. Bookkeeping DBS: list of available data DLS: access data at which places (full list) Add simplified image of user space, computing space with DBS, physics abstr vs physical abstraction. split data org into two, remove all from this page: data org into root files, data access schema

Framework: Add Data Org (root file, tree, collections, RAW,RECO,FEVT, AOD, Introduce as "get idea of how data is org'ed") Mention DBS Make image of root file (fevt) and AOD

talk to Liz about the rest

Analysis Workflow Add Data access, oli's new diagram Data Access Schema a.

Data org:

He'll give a reco tutorial 2nd week of May at CERN; viewable through VRVS VRVS instructions: vrvs.org, I'm aheavey with the "i love you" password Enter Cafe (for practice); choose whatever session is going on Connect MBone tools Then make sure volume is up, listen is checked, talk is unchecked (unless get good microphone) Click on whoever is the right person When done, disconnect MBone tools

Generation
  • Ask her to review Generating Events.
  • Find out if Vertex Smearing has errors in code, and if I can find an interesting histogram to show.
  • For pythia, using mcpool.root, I can't find anything interesting.
  • Let's add an example or two showing what you might want to change -- a real world physics example.

Simulation

  • I'd like to start with a sim-only cfg that operates on a root file I produced during the generation step.
  • Is there a standard sim cfg file that people start with?
  • I need to look at the pythia and QGSP cfg file, see if I can get the output to the scratch area.

Digitization

  • Where to start? Can we use the sim output from above and do a simple digi cfg file?

with Oliver

  • Pick a physics process to model. Go through a scenario where I have to figure out how to construct the job from scratch. How do I find what modules to run? How do I figure out which parameters to change? How do I know what to look at once the job is run and I have my root file?
  • WorkBookCMSExperiment -- what to put here?
  • WorkBookComputingConcepts -- what to put here?
  • Review: WorkBookAnalysisWorkFlow
  • Can we start on some RECO info?
