I am Cameroonian born in 18 February 1964 in Douala. I hold a PhD degree in strongly correlated electron systems (computational approach to quantum phase transitions in low-dimensional conductors and superconductors from the University of Sherbrooke, Canada in 2004), and a Doctorat troisième cycle in Mathematical Physics (from the University of Yaoundé, Cameroon in 1993) specialized in nonlinear Physics in general, and soliton theory in particular. I am permanent staff of the University of Buea (Cameroon) since 2004, where I am full Professor and Head of Physics Department. I am member and rapporteur of the commission for Physics at CCIU (the national inter-ministerial committee for promotion of University Teachers in Cameroon), member of students selection committee at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)-Cameroon branch, founder and coordinator of LaRAMaNS (Laboratory of Research on Advanced Materials and Nonlinear Sciences). I am also actively involved in promoting collaborations of Cameroonian diaspora from Germany in particular, with Cameroonian scientists based permanently in Cameroon. In this respect I was appointed by INSEARCH, an NGO of Cameroonian researchers working in German institutions, to serve as National President of the NGO in Cameroon.

I am a pure theoretical Physicist with advanced skills in computational Physics (numerical simulations). My current research activity covers a broad range of topics with focus on fundamental aspects of physics, from nonlinear optics to fluid mechanics through Geophysics, econophysics, neurophysics (I won a TWAS and Alexander von Humboldt research grants in this field), strongly correlated electronic systems (I won an Alexander von Humboldt stiftung on a project related to this topic), theory of nonlinear electrical transmissions, modelling of renewable energy sources assessments and so on. Since 2010 I am Alexander von Humboldt stiftung (“Experienced Researchers” category). I am “Senior Associate” of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, ICTP since 2017 (after being Regular Associate of the ICTP from 1996 to 2016). I am co-author of around a hundred publications, member of the editorial board of Journal of Optics (JOPT, IOP), Guest Editor of the special issue of Journal of the American Optical Society (JOSA) dedicated to Research in Optics in Africa (2020), reviewer and “adjudicator” for several journals (Elsevier, Springer, IOP, Wiley, AIP and APS journals).

I have supervized several PhD and MSc theses, and several dozen essays at AIMS-Ghana, AIMS-Cameroon and AIMS-Rwanda, where I also teach since their creations (AIMS Rwanda and AIMS Cameroon particularly). I also collaborate in postgraduate training activities in some African Universites, such as in Congo Brazzaville (where I teach “Quantum foundations of many-body theory for Material Sciences”), and Gabon (external examiner of PhD theses).

Last, with Pr. Kofane Timoleon (who was my MSc and Doctorat troisième cycle supervisor), I introduced a model of double-well potential, so-called Dikande-Kofane potential now famous in modelling phase transitions in low-dimensional structures with deformable shape profiles (such as biopolymers, DNA linear chain, etc.). The Dikande-Kofane potential was officially cited as one of Kofane’s most important contribution in Physics, in his 2014 African Union Kwame-Nkrumah Continental scientific award as best scientist of the continent in 2014 (prize shared with Pr. Salim S Abdool Karim from South Africa):
