Dr Ulrich (Uli) Raich

Ulrich (short Uli) Raich was born in Germany in 1953. He studied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Karlsruhe (Germany) and, after taking part in an experiment on anti-protonic atoms at the Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at CERN, obtained his Doctorate from the University of Karlsruhe.

He entered CERN, first as a fellow, later as a staff member and worked on Linear Accelerators, Accelerator Control and Beam Instrumentation. Uli was engaged in education from the beginning of his career, giving courses on microprocessors for developing countries, organized by the Abdus Salam ICTP, for 35 years, as well as courses on particle accelerator beam diagnostic for the CERN Accelerator School (CAS) and the African School of Fundamental Physics (ASP).

After retirement in 2017, Uli set up a microprocessor laboratory at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and worked there as a guest lecturer for a semester.
