Definition
OPC means
OLE for Process Control, and OLE stands for
Object Linking and Embedding. It's a client-server standard used to access data from a process control device using Windows based applications.

OPC Server Configuration
In Alice Tof, the
OPC server is installed on one or more Windows PC in the DCS network. The
OPC server is distributed by
CAEN and the last version is
CAENHVOPCServer_2.9 (library 2.15-1.6).
After the installation, the IP address of the device is to be configured.
At the moment we are connected in bdg 167 to:
- lvali1 137.138.9.177
- hvali1 137.138.9.164
In the DCS network we have 6 power supplies:
IP name |
alias in PVSS |
IP |
alidcscae011 |
alitofcaehv2 |
10.160.34.123 |
. |
alitofcaehv1 |
10.160.34.124 |
alidcscae012 |
alitofcaelv3 |
10.160.134.239 |
alidcscae013 |
alitofcaelv4 |
10.160.128.236 |
alidcscae010 |
alitofcaelv1 |
10.160.128.238 |
alidcscae014 |
alitofcaelv5 |
10.160.128.235 |
The device name is then used by
PVSS as the power supply name.
Next step will be the re-organization of the DP attributes in different
OPC groups; we have verified that 4 full easy systems and 2 hv systems are too big for a single
OPC manager.
