Applications ported and deployed on the Grid

This is a list of non-LHC applications ported and deployed using ARDA technologies.

name who/when scale tools comments
Geant4 medical applications opportunistic usage of the grid by individuals 50-300 CPUs producing histogram files Ganga,DIANE Geant4 VO, brachytherapy, IMRT, medlinac
Geant4 release testing scheduled usage of grid resources by release manager twice a year 50-200 CPUs, few CPU-years, producing postscript plots Ganga,DIANE Geant4 VO
ITU RRC06 scheduled (full month May/June 2006), low-latency access critical 1000CPUs, mixed local and Grid resources, low output data volume Ganga,DIANE collaboration with invited Grid computing centers (5 in Europe)
Avian Flu Drug Search scheduled, two data challanges 1200CPUs, 15 CPU-years Ganga,DIANE,AMGA collaboration with invited partners in South-East Asia (5)
Lattice QCD opportunistic usage by individual researcher 10000 CPUs, 30 CPU-years in 5 days, streaming files to the file server (1.2 MB/job) Ganga multiple VOs used and local resources of several computing centers
Lattice QCD phase 2   up to 1500 CPUs at a time, more than 200 CPU-years in 3 months, streaming 4TB of data (10MB/job) Ganga/DIANE multiple VOs used and local resources of several computing centers, automated with agent factory, using DIANE 2.0

Other applications:

  1. HARP, Ganga
  3. Garfield, Ganga
  4. Feynsect, theoretical physics, Ganga/DIANE
  5. MCFM, theoretical physics, Ganga

  1. xmipp, microscopic image processing,Ganga/DIANE
  2. Athena, Tier2 data analysis, Ganga/DIANE
  3. CMS/ORCA, Ganga/DIANE, prototype never deployed
  4. BLAST (port of MPI-BLAST), Ganga/DIANE
  5. Cambridge Ontology, image recognition, commercial, Ganga
  6. WIEN2K, computational chemistry, prototype, unknown status

  • DIANE is always used in conjunction with Ganga to submit worker agents
