Publication
We will write a peer review overview paper of Ganga. It should be around 20 pages long and contain an overview of the design goals, the architecture, the plugins and some use cases.
The merits of a publication are:
- Adding to the list of peer reviewed journal papers for all of us.
- Be a "high quality" reference for Ganga in the future.
- force us to have explain well what we have done.
We should aim at publication in the journal
Computer Physics Communications
.
Guidelines
are available.
Earlier
Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics
was also considered but it seems not to have very many computational articles and as such the Ganga article would get relatively little
interest.
Practical issues
The source code for the paper is available in the CVS directory
ganga/doc/journal/CPC2007
. Please check out and edit ganga.tex with your additions.
Special packaging of Ganga for CPC Program Library Submission
Ganga-CPC-publication-branch
is used to produce the special Ganga distribution, intended for CPC Program Library inclusion. This special version has an extended header printed at Ganga startup.
The distribution tarfile is in:
http://cern.ch/ganga/Ganga-5-2-4-CPC.tgz
- and includes a stripped down external directory. FIXME: the top-level executable symlink inside the tarfile does not work - call executable directly instead.
The paper source itself is kept in the HEAD.
Paper draft
The
draft of 14 Sep 2007. It is missing the following
- A figure illustrating the GUI
- A short section on extrenal monitoring (Dashboard, MonaLisa, Octopus)
- Refinement of the examples at the end
