Problems creating many hundreds of threads in a single program

Per-thread stack size can be limited setting at the session level to 1MB like this:

  • bash: ulimit -s 1024
  • tcsh/zsh: limit stacksize 1024

Default on my system this size is set to ~10MB.

Setting it to 1MB all the 1000 threads was successfully created.

In python the default value is read at the compile time (THREAD_STACK_MIN is set ~8MB in 2.4.3 for example) and there is no possibility to adjust it at run-time
