Atlas.TileCal offline software job list

Introduction

This page describes all ongoing activities as well as work which still needs to be done in Atlas.TileCal offline software. People who is working on a particular item will create separate wiki pages with current status. All the jobs listed here are pure software jobs and jobs like "study of effect of dead material" or "study of performace of TopoClustering" are not listed.

Detector Description

  • Description of special Atlas.TileCal modules with cut cells and missing fingers. Assigned to Anna Lupi
  • Real position of modules (non-cylindrical shape, slope of the axis)
  • Description of dead material in the crack between barrel and extended barrel, icluding LAr crates, cables, pipes, etc
  • Description of Atlas.TileCal support structures
  • Update of TileDetDescr and TileAtlas.GeoModel packages, more tight connection between Atlas.GeoModel and calorimeter description used in the reconstruction, in particular detailed information about cell geometry needed for Atlas.TrackToCalo propagation.
  • Atlas.GeoModel for ancillary detectors at the testbeam

Databases

  • Conditions DB support in Athena Assigned to Karl Gellerstedt
  • Conditions DB with CIS and opt filter constants for online use Assigned to Karl Gellerstedt
  • Standalone tool to look at DB contents Assigned to Karl Gellerstedt
  • Interface to DCS in Athena

Simulation

  • Simulation with calibration hits Assigned to Gia Khoriauli
  • Simulation of Atlas.TileCal standalone testbeam setups in new Athena environment
  • Tile optical profile (for scintillators) in Geant4 simulation
  • Description of attenuation in fibers
  • Check of Birk's law in Geant4 simulation
  • Shower parameterization Assigned to Stano Tokar
  • Time of the hit information in Geant4 simulation (esp. for cosmics)

Digitization, Atlas.ByteStream, Reconstruction

  • Realistic signal time in digitization, including channel-to-channel variation
  • Digitization for Level 1 trigger with different signal shapes for different cables
  • Digitization for Muon Level 1 trigger, including update of identifiers
  • Update of TileAtlas.ByteStream for new ROD formats Assigned to Valencia
  • Update of Optimal filtering in Athena, use of COOL for all kind of constants Assigned to Valencia
  • Migration of TileDigitsToRawChannel algorithm to Atlas.AlgTool, consistent use of all RawChannelBuilder Atlas.AlgTools for real and simulated data
  • Fine tuning of algorithm to calculate CIS constants in Athena
  • Update of TileCablingService: use of cabling database in reconstruction and Atlas.ByteStream converters
  • Improvements in TileMuID algorithm and speed up of unpacking in TileAtlas.ByteStream Assigned to Giulio Usai
  • Tools to apply corrections using info from DCS (e.g. HV correction)
  • Algorithms to make in-situ calibrations (e.g. with cosmic muons) and store corrections in the database

Offline software for commissioning

Offline software for online use

  • Conditions DB for online - see Database above
  • Development of TileMonitoring for Event Filter
  • Support and improvements of Event Displays, v-atlas and Atlas.Atlantis - see TileEventDisplay Assigned to Bucharest

Minimum Bias scintillators

MB scintillators is a part of ATLAS which readout by Atlas.TileCal PMTs. They are put as separate item because most probably all the items below will be done by one person
  • Detector Description of Minimum Bias scintillators
  • Simulation in Geant4 (hit collection in stepping function)
  • Digitization
  • Reconstruction
