Step by step instruction

Submiting ganga job

Copy/paste of all the commands bellow should just work. If not please drop me an email.

  1. Copy the source code for the SUSY analysis:
    mkdir ~/HWW
    cd HWW
    scp lxplus.cern.ch:/afs/cern.ch/user/e/elmsheus/public/HWWNtupleCode-00-02- .
  2. extract it:
    tar -xvf HWWNtupleCode-00-02-
    rm HWWNtupleCode-00-02-
  3. setup ROOT
    export ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE=/cvmfs/atlas.cern.ch/repo/ATLASLocalRootBase
    setupATLAS='source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh'
  4. configure RootCore
    cd RootCore
    source scripts/setup.sh
    cd ..
  5. update package directories
  6. clean and recompile
  7. the submission script is:
    export ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE=/cvmfs/atlas.cern.ch/repo/ATLASLocalRootBase
    setupATLAS='source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh'
    source RootCore/scripts/setup.sh
    ganga athena \
    --inDS data12_8TeV.00202991.physics_JetTauEtmiss.merge.NTUP_SUSYSKIM.f443_m1136_p1181/ \
    --outputdata result_202991.root,result_202991.txt \
    --athena_release 17.5.0 \
    --useRootCore --panda \
    --site=ANALY_FREIBURG --split 2 \
    --athena_exe EXE \
    --outDS result_202991.211212.4 \

In case of problems with Ganga I found that easiest fix it to delete all ganga related files from your home directory and recreate it from scratch:

export ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE=/cvmfs/atlas.cern.ch/repo/ATLASLocalRootBase
setupATLAS='source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh'
rm .ganga*
rm -rf .ipython .ipython-ganga
$ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE/user/generateGangarc.sh --voms=atlas

Running interactively

  1. Set up environment:
    export ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE=/cvmfs/atlas.cern.ch/repo/ATLASLocalRootBase
    setupATLAS='source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh'
  2. Download one dataset to use:
    mkdir MYDATA
    cd MYDATA
    dq2-get  mc12_8TeV.164615.Herwigpp_UEEE3_CTEQ6L1_DGstauR_TB50_M1M2MU_050_400_400_2L.merge.NTUP_SUSY.e1408_s1499_s1504_r3658_r3549_p1181_tid00957254_00
  3. Fix lib directories:
    vi runD3PDSelector.C
  4. open ROOT and run the macro:
    root -l 
    .L runD3PDSelector.C
    .x runD3PDSelector.C (0)

extract the tarball to /path/to/tarballdir

Setup the release area with: source /afs/cern.ch/sw/ganga/install/etc/setup-atlas.sh export ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE=/cvmfs/atlas.cern.ch/repo/ATLASLocalRootBase source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh asetup 17.6.0 --single --testarea /path/to/tarballdir cd $TestArea source RootCore/scripts/setup.sh cd HWWlvlvCode/Run/

If you like to run locally get some SMWZ_NTUP p1067 files, add the full list of files into 'local.txt' (separated by \n) and start it with "./run_MC12a_unskimmed_local.sh 125 Nominal"

To submit to Panda use e.g. sub_nobuild_xrootd_cern.sh and change in the script the parameter of --userarea and the ganga paths
