Setup dCache Xrootd Door

This page is OBSOLETE FAX is not used anymore

This is the recommended way to enable a dCache Xrootd door. Since traffic will go directly between clients and the dCache Xrootd door it is required that all dCache pool nodes are internet visible. dCache versions 2.10+ are supported.

Enable a dCache/xrootd door

add these lines to your layout file:

Make sure that the xrootd port (1094) is open to the outside.

Install N2N translation plugin (very optional)

This needs to be done on only one of the machines (this one will be "the door"). Lets call that host/alias <FAX-doors.yourdomain>.

From WLCG repository install dcache-xrootd-n2n-plugin-7.0.1-0.noarch.rpm

Once the plugin is installed you need to update your dCache configuration /etc/dcache/dcache.conf file to add :

Don't forget to restart your xrootd domain after you make the changes:

service dcache restart xrootd-<host>Domain

After restart do check the log file to make sure service is up and running and that N2N plugin has been found. Your door will require GSI credentials (think 'voms-proxy-init -voms atlas') to be able to access files on the xrootd door. It should use your gPlazma configuration to validate access.
