Introduction

This page lists the public plots illustrating signal read-out.

Signal Read-Out

Compressed Fragment

Distribution of the Tile Calorimeter Read-Out Driver (ROD) fragment sizes (32 bit words) for cosmic ray data (run 177079, 10k events, 64 fragments per event). The bandwidth limit for 100 kHz L1 Trigger rate is 398 words. It should be noticed, that the maximal ROD fragment size in this distribution is 86% of the bandwidth limit.

Distribution of the Tile Calorimeter Read-Out Driver (ROD) fragment sizes (32 bit words) for charge injection mono calibration run (run 177061, 3.5k events, 64 fragments per event). Here we have an exact timing (within ±1 ns) and a signal with amplitude ~100 ADC counts in all channels, which is unlike to happen in real data. This causes the maximal ROD fragment size to exceed the bandwidth limit of 398 words, nevertheless all the data can be transferred at least at 96 kHz L1 Trigger rate. Two peak structure appears due to some temporally switched off Tile modules.

Distribution of the Tile Calorimeter Read-Out Driver (ROD) fragment sizes (32 bit words) for laser calibration run (run 177064, 3.5k events, 64 fragments per event). Here we have a large time jittering ~25 ns and a signal with amplitude ~70 ADC counts in all channels, which is unlike to happen in real data. This causes the maximal ROD fragment size to exceed the bandwidth limit of 398 words, nevertheless all the data can be transferred at least at 93 kHz L1 Trigger rate. Two peak structure appears due to some temporally switched off Tile modules.

[eps]
Maximal average bandwidth load distribution for TileCal Long Barrel (LB). Cosmic ray data (run 177079, 10000 events). For each of 32 Tile ROD (Read-Out Driver) fragments produced by 16 Long Barrel RODs, the moving average of fragment sizes over 16 consecutive events is calculated and the maximum of the 32 is selected.
Red lines - Reco+Frag1: Threshold Smax ? Smin > 6 ADC counts;
Blue lines - Frag5: All raw data;
Solid lines - runs with the current version of software;
Dashed lines - evaluation for the same runs with the upgrades currently under way (Sep 2011).
The bandwidth limit for 100 kHz L1 Trigger rate is 398 words.
