Event Displays from Non-Collision Data

The non-collision event displays below are approved to be shown by ATLAS speakers at conferences and similar events. Click on the thumbnail images to access full-size displays. If you wish to use these event displays for other purposes than presentations of ATLAS results, please see the copyright statement.

This page shows events from the Run2 startup preparations in 2014 and 2015. For non-collision event displays from Run1, please check here.

The main Event Display Public Page gives an overview on all available public event displays.

Event display of one of the collimator "splash" event seen by the ATLAS experiment in LHC Run-2 , on Tuesday April the 7th : event 22425, run 260466. The collimator position is 140m in front of the ATLAS interaction point. The spray of particles enters ATLAS from the left hand side of the picture. The length of the yellow bars indicates the energy deposited in the ATLAS calorimeter.

The high resolution version is available in CDS

Event display of a collimator "splash" event seen by the ATLAS experiment in LHC Run-2, on Tuesday April the 7th : event 16848, run 260466. The collimator position is 140m in front of the ATLAS interaction point. The figure on the left shows an axial view of the various components of the ATLAS detector. The figure on the right shows the energy deposits in the cells of the ATLAS calorimeter.

The high resolution version is available in CDS

Event display of first collimator "splash" event seen by the ATLAS experiment in LHC Run-2 , on Sunday April the 5th : event 5879, run 260272. The collimator position is 140m in front of the ATLAS interaction point. The spray of particles enters ATLAS from the right hand side of the picture. For clarity some parts of the detector are not shown.

The high resolution version is available in CDS

Event display of a collimator "splash" event seen by the ATLAS experiment in LHC Run-2 , on Sunday April the 5th : event 6539, run 260272. The collimator position is 140m in front of the ATLAS interaction point. The spray of particles enters ATLAS from the left hand side of the longitudinal view. This is the "live" view of the event as seen online at the experiment. atlantis-6539-logo.png
Atlantis event display of cosmic ray event 4472609 from run 246892. A cosmic ray is shown passing through the IBL, the newly installed pixel layer of the ATLAS detector, in the presence of a solenoidal magnetic field. The IBL is the inner-most layer in the display. The three layers surrounding the IBL are the other layers of the Pixel detector, and the four outer-most layers seen are the Semiconductor Tracker (SCT). These data were recorded during milestone run 7 (M7) which is being used to re-commision the ATLAS detector for Run2 startup. JiveXML_246892_4472609.png
Atlantis event display of cosmic ray event 492191 from run 248371. A cosmic ray is shown passing through the IBL, the newly installed pixel layer of the ATLAS detector, in the absence of a solenoidal magnetic field. The IBL is the inner-most layer in the display. The three layers surrounding the IBL are the other layers of the Pixel detector. These data were recorded during milestone run 7 (M7) which is being used to re-commision the ATLAS detector for Run2 startup. JiveXML_246892_4472609.png
VP1 event display of cosmic ray event 3082155 from run 252226. A cosmic ray is shown passing through the Cathode Strip Chambers (CSCs) shown in yellow, and the Monitored Drift Tube Chambers (MDTs) shown in green. The CSC readout system has been replaced for Run 2. These data were recorded during milestone run 8 (M8) which is being used to re-commision the ATLAS detector for Run2 startup.
