Indicated by solid lines, are combined upper limits on the SM Higgs boson production cross section divided by the Standard Model expectation as a function of mH. The dotted lines show the median expected limit in the absence of a signal and the green and yellow bands indicate the corresponding 68% and 95% expected regions. These are 95% CL limit using the CLs method. The black lines correspond to the update of the combination of Higgs boson searches in 1.0 to 2.3 fb-1 of pp collision data taken at sqrt(s)=7 TeV. The red lines correspond to the combination of Higgs boson searches with 35 pb-1 of pp collision data taken at sqrt(s)=7 TeV in 2010. |

The consistency with the background-only hypothesis is estimated by the p0 probability that a background-only experiment is more signal-like than the observed one. The probability p0 is bounded to be equal to 50% for downward fluctuations of the background and smaller than 50% when an excess of events is observed. This probability is displayed for the combination of Higgs boson searches in 1.0 to 2.3 fb-1 of pp collision data taken at sqrt(s)=7 TeV (black line) and for the combination of Higgs boson searches in 1.0 to 2.3 fb-1 of pp collision data taken at sqrt(s)=7 TeV (red line). The dashed lines show the median expected significance in the hypothesis of a Standard Model Higgs boson production signal for the corresponding integrated luminosities of the aforementionned samples. The four horizontal dashed lines indicate the p-values corresponding to significances of 2sigma, 3sigma, 4sigma and 5sigma. |
