Cherenkov counters detect the light emitted by charged particles passing through a medium when the velocity of the particle is greater than the velocity of light in the medium.it is possible to fill the detector with a gas, possibly under pressure, so that the detector will respond only to particles with velocities exceeding some minimum value. ---+ Development %STARTSECTION{Development}% | *Date* | *Action* | | 2015-08-18 | Worked with the beam instrumentation people to change gas in the Cherenkov volumes%BR%Achieved a vacuum of 10 mBar | %ENDSECTION{Development}% ---+ Simulation There is a simple simulation of a gas volume in the BL4S SimulationSoftware. The entry and exit windows are 0.6 mm Mylar and the PMT is model !XP2020Q. This information was last updated in 1993, so it is uncertain if this is current. ---+ Location of the T9 Cherenkov detectors [[%ATTACHURLPATH%/Cherenkov_locations.jpg][<img src="%ATTACHURLPATH%/Cherenkov_locations.jpg" alt="Cherenkov_locations.jpg" height="400" />]] -- Main.CandanDozen - 2015-03-18
