Cherenkov counters detect the light emitted by charged particles passing through a medium when the velocity of the particle is greater than the velocity of light in the is possible to fill the detector with a gas, possibly under pressure, so that the detector will respond only to particles with velocities exceeding some minimum value.

Date Action
2015-08-18 Worked with the beam instrumentation people to change gas in the Cherenkov volumes
Achieved a vacuum of 10 mBar

There is a simple simulation of a gas volume in the BL4S SimulationSoftware. See SimulationSoftware#CherenkovCounter.
