The DIM system used at CERN allows experiments to publish status parameters over the technical or general networks. This information is used in applications such as the OP Vistars.

Data Interchange Protocol
Distributed Information Management - System of tools that implement DIP.
DIP Name Server - lookup server for DIP publishers to list themselves and DIP subscribers to locate publishers of interest.

In the BL4S SVN repo: Server process publishes some example data via a fixed name server.

DIP Browser

DIP browser is a small java tool to connect to a DNS, list publishers and subscribe to variables on a publisher. It's included in the BL4S repo in the tools dir.



DNS Server

Linux service acting as a directory to publish servers. Installation is described on the HowTo page.
