Question: Which Linux compatible S/W will be installed for reading single images via USB from the camera?

** Video for Linux (V4L2) installed for controlling webcam from Linux.

yum install v4l-utils

** ffmpeg s/w installed. Itís a set of tools dedicated to decoding, encoding and transcoding video and audio.

Question: Can we control the exposure time?

** We can also control the exposure time with using g-streamer control program.

Here is an image from the webcam with the sensor covered and the gain and a brightness set to very high values. Hot pixels can be seen directly.


Question: Which S/W is needed to use?

** PixelMan S/W isntalled.

Reliability test

Make a sandwich with webcam between two TimePix. When the TimePix has hits from the beam ,the track of the hits are reconstructed and afterwards hits on the webcam will be checked to see if hits are compatible with Timepix.

Description Status
What is the dimensions of the camera with the Peltier cooler.  
Which power supply does the cooler have?  
Do we really need cooler?  
Which Linux release and kernel version are the team using?  
Two Timepix and the Webcam will be combined into one solid block and moved that block with respect to the beam. A holder must be designed for the camera and TimePix PCBs. To be Discussed

Program of the experiment

  • The camera will be installed in T9 experimental area.
  • Camera will be moved carefully with respect to the beam.
  • CCD and TimePix images will be compared.
