Mechanical

Electrical

  • Electrode PCB - designs from Crispin:
    • Anode pcb:

    • RibbonVHDCIAdapter pcb:
    • DIN 41612 Type C 96 pin connectors. Six sets of two anode-cathode pairs separated by grounds, with a,b & c lines ganged. Two connectors per side with strips read out on both sides. Need to check polarity of these connections.
    • The anode PCB has blocking capacitors on the left hand side to isolate the DC offset of one NINO card.
    • There are 10MOhm resistors to pull the strips down to ground - this prevents HV building up and killing the NINO cards.
    • Make sure the HV lines are on opposing ends of the PCB.
    • Check anode-cathode board interconnects - v1 PCB is sized for through hole wires, not Jumper pins.
    • Is VHDVI the same as VHDCI? - seems so, the cables are used for TimePix interconnects, also.
    • Boards made by CERN fabrication service.
    • PCB layout in the OHWR.
  • High Voltage differential power supplies (~+- 7kV) - Either 2 N570s or a CAEN A329N and P
  • Low Voltage +- 2.5V power for front end boards
  • RibbonVHDCIAdapter
  • VHDCI readout cables
  • Ribbon cables

Gas

  • C2H2F4 (95%) AKA 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane, Freon R134a, HFC-134a
  • SF6 (5%) AKA Sulfur Hexafluoride
  • Flow rate of 5 l/h
  • Automated mixer - Gases need to be mixed online. May need an automated mixer from Bronkhorst automation T9 BeamLine has an automated flow meter for SF6 and C2H2F4 - see GasSystem for more.

Dielectric strength

  • Air: 30kV/cm
  • SF6: 90kV/cm
  • C2H2F4: ~27.6kV/cm
  • 5% SF6 + 95% C2H2F4 ~ 30.7 kV/cm

  • 35ps to 300ps resolution (programmable)
  • 2x 34 pin IDC header inputs
  • Available from CERN electronics pool
  • 143ns time window at 35ps resolution (12 bit)
  • 5.7μs conversion time: i.e. 175kHz max rate

CAEN 1190A & B

  • 128 and 64 channels respectively
  • Only 100ps to 800ps resolution
  • Robinson Nugent 68 pin inputs
  • Not available in CERN electronics pool

V1290A

  • 32 channels
  • 25ps resolution
  • 2x 34 pin IDC header inputs
  • Limited availability in CERN electronics pool
  • 52μs window (21 bit)

Trigger

  • NINO2468 cards have OR output of all channels. These could be used to drive trigger signals.
