Checklist

Every two hours of shift, in the odd hours, copy the checklist below and put it in the e-log, filling the relevant fields and removing the instruction between parenthesis. As Message Type, use General. Entry type is Operation, and subsystems affected are DAQ, TPC, CRT, Beam Instrumentation, Slow Control, Beam Plug. Subject is Shift Checklist

GENERAL

  • Do we have beam this week? (YES/NO/Parasitically. If the answer is NO, skip the BEAM section.)
  • Current Run number?
  • Current Run type? (Physics/Cosmic/Test/Noise/Calibration)
  • Open the DQM FEMB page here, open the first file at the top of the list and click on FEMB count vs Event and count distribution. The left plot shows the number of active FEMBs for the events contained in the file. Under normal conditions (i.e., all APAs included in the run and all WIBs and all RCEs in each APAs working) the number of active FEMBs should always be 120. If you see that it is consistently below 120, stop the run (if the run number matches the one currently being taken) and start a new run.

  • Walk down the downstream-Jura side corner of the yellow fence/cryogenic white support structure and look at the display of the oxygen monitor (guiding pictures here below). If the value displayed is above 0.020 ppm, call immediately Stephen Pordes (CERN phone: 164102) and the Run Coordinators.

BEAM

  • Tertiary beam momentum? (Check the beam momentum on the top of any window open in CESAR. Instruction on how to use CESAR here.)
  • Is the tertiary beam momentum the same as the one stated in the Run Plan? (If the answer is no and you don't know why, contact the Run Coordinator.)
  • Beam intensity on T2 target? (Instructions here.)
  • Number of particles/spill on General Trigger? (If quite different from expected value, check the following items.)
  • Is the magnet current correct? (YES/NO. On CESAR, click on the Magnet Status icon and check there is no row highlighted in yellow or red - indicating a mis-configured magnet. If there is some discrepancy on the magnets of our beamline - those where the last 3 numbers on the name are above 680 - contact the beam experts or the Run Coordinator off working hours. If the discrepancy is on some of the magnets upstream, call the Cern Control Center.)

Slow Control

  • Is there any error appearing in the Slow Control main overview? (YES/NO. If yes, indicate which error)_
  • What is the LAr level value? (Visible on this page ). If the level drops below 7.3 meters, contact the Run Coordinator.
  • What is the Cathode Voltage value? (Visible on this page in the last column.)
  • What is the Current (measured) value? (Visible on this page in the last column.)
  • What are the latest electron lifetime values? (Look in the logbook for the latest measurements from Stephen Pordes or Ilsoo Seong and record the average, the rms and the time of the entry.)
  • Check the status of FEMBs currents at this page. For each WIB in each crate, check that the current for the 2.8 V section is below 2.8A. In case it is 2.8 A or higher, call immediately the run coordinator.

ONLINE MONITOR

  • Please attach a screenshot of the "Timing" plots under Timing section (during beam weeks).
  • Please attach a screenshot of "Profiled_FFT" and "Profiled RMS by WIB" of USRaS (APA3)
  • Please attach a screenshot of "Z-Plane" from the Event Display -> Beam Window (if the plot isn't empty. Make sure Run number is visible).

DQM

  • Twice per shift (at half of your shift and towards the end) go to the DQM Shifter Instruction page here and follow the instructions under the section at the bottom of the page DQM Shift checklist. To access the Instruction page you need a Fermilab service account. If you don't have a Fermilab account,use the general one to access Dune DocDB: username is dune, password is written on a piece of paper under one of the control room screens. Report in the e-log any issue found during the DQM checklist.

  • If you find some nice events during the DQM checklist on the 2D event displays, take a screenshot of them and post them in the elog.
