  • Keep the DAQ running as much as possible to reduce the time spent starting a run.
    • During beam running if there is an error on the Rack Side that persists for a few minutes stop the run, resolve the problem, then start a new run.
    • During beam running if beam is not delivered for more than 30 minutes stop the run. Start a new run immediately. Keep running when beam arrives.
    • During extended non-beam running start a new run 30 minutes before beam is anticipated to arrive.
    • Always run 2 Hz periodic non-beam trigger.
  • If something doesn't look right and you don't get answers from the Slack channel (especially at night), please use the phone and wake up people! They'll be happy to be awaken to prevent loosing hours of data
  • At the end of each good run with beam (i.e., a run containing at least 5 minutes of beam acquired by the TPC electronics) please record the run number, cathode voltage and beam momentum in this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O4o9_q8F-KynQltKDAfmco3e_s1eKItFkzZ4-g_Vls0/edit?usp=sharing

  • While we run at 1 GeV and 2 GeV, we'll try to keep the run going as much as possible. So, if you see fragment sizes dropping for SSPs or RCEs on the DAQ side (APA 4,5, and 6), don't worry and keep the run going. On the other side, if it happens on the rack side APAs (APA 1,2 or 3), immediately stop the run and (try) to restart.
  • Occasionally, the cathode current will jump at a higher state (streamer). Generally, it comes back to normal value by itself. sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 5 hours. We decided to don't take action on those for now, just record them. So, if you see the current suddenly jump up, record it in the elog but keep on running. Anyway, if one of the HV experts tells you he/she wants to ramp down the voltage, then unbias the SSPs, stop the run and follow his/her instructions.
  • Ilsoo will run the purity monitor twice per day. So it is ok to stop an ongoing run for that. Anyway, if the purity monitor run can be accommodated during beam off times, or when a run is stop for other reasons, that would be great. If that's not possible, but you can manage to stop the run (because of purity monitor) only after it has been running for at least 2 hours, that would be very much appreciated!

Start with np04_WIBsReal_Ssps_FEMB14mVfC2usPulser2_00007, take a 5 minutes run @ 10 Hz (random trigger), then move to the next configuration np04_WIBsReal_Ssps_FEMB14mVfC2usPulser3_00007, same run time and trigger rate, and so on

* Geoff will come asking to turn off DAQ for computer maintenance, which should last about 2 hours. End the 5 mintues run you're taking and leave it to him

* Once you get DAQ back, resume the 5 minutes runs with the configurations listed above, but use partition 1. Leave partition 0 to Nuno for tests of trigger configurations with the CRT

  • Take beam runs (remember when you start a run to select "physics" as run type) with full system at 7 GeV. Anyway, there will be tests of the new Cherenkov detector performance done at various energies (3 GeV, 5 GeV, 7 GeV) by the beam group between this evening and tomorrow. They will inform you when they are about to switch to a new beam momentum. When this happen, just stop the current run and immediately restart a new one for the new momentum. Remember to put an entry in the e-log to inform about the momentum change and new run being taken.

  • Monitor the stability of cathode voltage (here) and current (here). Call the HV experts and Run coordinator in case of instabilities.

From Friday September 21st

  • np04_WibsReal_Ssps00125
  • If run in partition_0 then exclude trigger_0 component

ARTDAQ CONFIGURATION FOR BEAM RUNS:

  • Run in partition_0 and include trigger_0 component
  • np04_WibsReal_Ssps_BeamTrig_00012
  • np04_WibsReal_Ssps_BeamTrig_4x_prescale_00003 - prescaled for higher rates (i.e. the General trigger value in CESAR > 200 counts) -> For Entire System
  • np04_WibsReal_Ssps_BeamTrig_4x_prescale_00003 - prescaled for higher rates (i.e. the General trigger value in CESAR > 500 counts) -> For ONLY SSPs

ARTDAQ FOLDER: dune-artdaq_artdaq_v3_03_00_alpha

  • Take beam runs (remember when you start a run to select "physics" as run type) with SSP only @ all the energies (1 GeV, 2 GeV, 3 GeV, 4 GeV, 5 GeV, 6 GeV, 7 GeV)
  • Take a half an hour cosmic run (remember when you start the run to select "cosmic" as run type) in between each momentum step
  • Monitor the stability of cathode voltage (here) and current (here). Call the HV experts and Run coordinator in case of instabilities.

From Tuesday September 19th

  • Run in partition_0 and include trigger_0 component
  • np04_WibsReal_Ssps_BeamTrig_00019
  • np04_WibsReal_Ssps_BeamTrig_4x_prescale_00002 - prescaled for higher rates

  • During technical stop and HV on cathode, take continuous cosmic run with full system on. Remember to select as Run Type "cosmic"
  • During technical stop and HV=0 on cathode, take CE noise runs whenever the system is not used by PD group for calibrations or DAQ experts or BNL group for specific tests. In these days, it would be good to have at least 2 CE noise runs (of at least 15-30 minutes) per day

ARTDAQ FOLDER: dune-artdaq_artdaq_v3_02_01_testing

  • Take one CE noise run in the morning and one in the afternoon with 6 APAs, if possible. Check with DAQ experts and PD group for DAQ availability.
  • Take PD commissioning run with 6 APAs.
  • During and anyway before the end of the shift, check data rates, online monitoring, noise levels for the acquired runs.
