WG4: sensitivity studies

This working group will focus on evaluating the impact of experimental and theoretical uncertainties on the experiment sensitivity. As a starting point, it should review the already existing methodologies and the already existing beakdowns of total systematics, as evaluated for instance by MINOS, T2K, NOvA.

  • Given the heterogeneity of the membership and the need to appropriate the existing knowledge, the first meeting could be devoted to summarise, merge and digest the existing studies for the topics of interest of our WG4.
  • Feel free to present material of interest for WG4
  • Feel free to post material, add link to documents, events etc in the twiki


  • Analyze the relative contribution of different systematic errors to the final sensitivities:
    • ND requirements for improving the measurements of the standard oscillation parameters in ongoing experiments
    • ND requirements for exotic measurements (sterile neutrinos, NSI, Lorentz violation ...)
  • Review current methods and techniques: MINOS, NOvA, T2K (VALOR), DUNE etc
  • Evaluate need for / develop new tools
  • Provide guidelines to WG1-WG3 in terms of required systematic/statistics

Next Steps

  • volunteers for reviewing the current status of the effect of the ND in the determination of oscillation parameters as well as on the study of exotics scenarios
  • the first WG4 meeting where to:
    • present ourselves and our interests
    • discuss the status-of-the-art indicated in the aforementioned review and identify possible ND technologies not taken into account in previous studies
    • identify the relevant systematics
    • future plans: how to address new analyses etc
