Add a new artdaq component or move it a different host

First you need to modify the name-host-port mapping in a text file:
  • if the component is a BoardReader you need to modify the file /nfs/sw/artdaq/DAQInterface/.components.txt
    • (don't modify port numbers)
  • if the component is an EventBuilder, Dispatcher or RoutingMaster, the file is /home/np04rc/EBs-AGs.txt

After modifying the file(s), you need to apply the changes:

  1. Execute gedi, this will open the graphics editor Gedi
  2. Also open the log viewer, logViewer
  3. From the top left Module drop down, select Vision
  4. Choose the panel vision/UpdateHostPort.pnl

The last step will execute a script that parses the two files, sets the corresponding relevant datapoints and finally restarts the xmlrpcDrv driver. You can check the output of these operations in the log viewer for confirmation.
The new mapping is now effective.

Move a device/node to a different partition

  1. execute devMan, this will open the Device Editor and Navigator
  2. Click on the FSM tab
  3. Switch from Operation to Configuration mode
  4. Browse the tree and find the device/node that you want to move
  5. Right-click on it and select Cut from the menu
  6. The cut device/node is now in the --Clipboard--
  7. You can now directly Paste it in the destination node, by right-clicking on it
  8. Regenerate the FSM

Regenerate the FSM

  1. Communicate with all the current RunControl users and ask to stop all runs
  2. execute devMan, this will open the Device Editor and Navigator
  3. Click on the FSM tab
  4. From Operation mode click on Stop all. This will stop all the SMI nodes, resulting in DEAD state
  5. Switch to Configuration mode
  6. Right-click on the dist_1 top node and select Generate ALL FSMs
  7. Switch to Operation mode and click Start/Restart All

Restart the project

  1. startPA stop project and wait for red traffic light
  2. startConsole check shutdown steps
  3. pgrep WCC are there any left WCC processes?
  4. pkill -f WCC kill them
  5. systemctl stop winccoa.service
  6. systemctl start winccoa.service good to go
