In order to use the LCD-Virtual Machine only a few steps have to be taken

Install a Host for the Virtual Machine

So far all we tried was the VMWare Player Download the installer for the system of your choice, installation should be straight forward. A restart of your system might be required

Download the CernVM from here

http://rbuilder.cern.ch/project/cernvm-devel/releases Take the latest release for your VM Host (e.g. VMWare Player)

First Run of the VM

Unpack the file and run it with the Host. Once the system is booted it will display an IP Address (e.g. https://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8003) Point your Browser to the address (or to http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8004) and follow the three steps:
  • Login with Username = admin and Password = password
  • Change the Admin password
  • Create your user account (the first account will be able to use root privileges using "sudo")
  • On the next page chose LCD as the virtual organization and select Desktop+VMWare (or VirtualBox if applicable) in (What is the field called???)

Now you can log in using your username and password.
