CMS Public Data 2011

Introduction

In December 2010 and April 2011 the CMS collaboration agreed to release the following data to the public for use in education and outreach.

Datasets

  • 2000 dimuon events around the J/psi DONE DocDB link
  • 2000 dielectron events around the J/psi
  • 2000 dimuon events around the Upsilon
  • 2000 dielectron events around the Upsilon
  • 500 dielectron events around the Z DONE DocDB link
  • 500 dimuon events around the Z DONE DocDB link
  • 500 W to e-nu events DONE DocDB link
  • 500 W to mu-nu events DONE DocDB link
  • 100k dimuon events in the range 2-110 GeV DONE DocDB link
  • 100k dielectron events in the range 2-110 GeV
  • 100k dijet events in the range 2-110 GeV

The ig files can be used for event displays, whether they be iSpy which is a stand-alone executable that can be downloaded and run with a few clicks, or a browser-based display: http://www18.i2u2.org/elab/cms/event-display.

More information

The CMS collaboration has accepted a policy on data preservation, re-use and open access in March 2012. The implementation of the policy is just starting.
