Common Issues faced during Commissioning

As most sites encounter the same problems during the link commissioning process, we decided to document common issues site admins/central operators faced in this process

Having problem with the transfers to your site

  1. First of all, check your agents, if they're not running, nothing will happen from/to your site:
  2. Check your TFC(storage.xml) is fetched&updated by central PhEDEx agents
  3. Your FileDownload agent must have a matching rule in TFC.
  4. Check injection page that all necessary datasets are created
      • eg: for the transfers from T2_CH_CERN to T3_KR_KISTI, dataset name should be something like: /PhEDEx_Debug/LoadTest07_T2_CH_CERN/T3_KR_KISTI
      • by clicking "Show Options" at the top of the page, you can change shown nodes.
      • Check the loadtest's "Status" column in the table, it should be "Active" not "Stopped" or anything else
      • Check the loadtest's "Last Injection" column, it must have a recent value(a couple of hours back at most)
    • If you don't have, try to create it "Show Options" > "Create Injection" > "from:T2_CH_CERN to:T3_KR_KISTI at 0.1 MB/s"
      • Currently sites can only create loadtest streams FROM their site, not TO the site. In that case ask help from transfer team
  5. Even if you have the dataset in the injection page, it's not enough. You have to be subscribed for that dataset at your site.
  6. If everything above is fine for your site, you should be seeing some routed samples
  7. and some ongoing transfers
  8. You can also check whether there is a transfer problem to your site:
