HCAL Data analysis (performance) group

Introduction

At present the goal of this group is train young students for Run-II data analysis of HCAL system. But, this is not only running existing code, but also develop the code itself, which can be put in online DAQ monitor, calibration tools and/or prompt analysis packages. For basic codes to analysis HCAL data and some of the earlier analysis can be found in (twiki).

List of topics for analysis and code development, along with the progresses (evolving with time) are,

1. Put proper weight factor for HO (long standing assignment, but no conclusive result) using 2015 data to improve JET energy resolution and MET performance.

2. Make a list of bad channels for a run/run period. Planning to do this using informations of pedestal position, width, noise rate and pulse shape in a channel.

3. Use Beam halo events to calibrate HF. At present, we do not have any beam halo trigger. So, first need to establish this using MC sample and then ask for a trigger in single bunch fill.

4. Ratio of signal in short and long fibre of HF and goal is to calibrate HF short fibre.

5. Performance of layer-wise clustering algorithm (also a old problem).

6. Thermal photo-electron : source of SiPM gain calibration in HO. Extrapolation to SiPM in Upgraded HBHE. Slides for the estimation uncertainty as a fucntion of statistics, fit paramters, range of fit, slide1), slide2, slide3.
