Goal of this page

The aim of this page is to document the CMSSW interface to the AMPT Monte-Carlo generator—where the code lives, how to run it, and details of the implementation.

General Info

CMSSW Release Status

The AMPTInterface was first included in CMSSW as of release CMSSW_3_4_0_pre4.

There is a double/float bug in CMSSW versions <5_X. Please check out/compile a later version to make it work.

Interface AMPT input parameters in CMSSW

Code

The AMPTInterface code lives in the package GeneratorInterface/AMPTInterface.

Original Generator

The present version of AMPT used in CMSSW is version 1.25/2.25. For more information see: AMPT homepage

Official Configuration files

The file GeneratorInterface/AMPTInterface/python/amptDefaultParameters_cff.py contains default parameters for the AMPT generator.

The file GeneratorInterface/AMPTInterface/python/amptDefault_cfi.py contains the configuration of a complete generator module (EDFilter).

Physics settings

The settings for various physics scenarios are described in: input.ampt
