The Inclusive B hadron analyzer

Purpose of analyzer

The aim of the InclB analyzer is to produce a ROOT Ntuple using the format implemented in AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects. The produced ROOT Ntuple contains all the variables needed for the analysis (muons, track jets and calo jets, tracks, primary vertex, trigger) and can be analyzed using simple macros (also outside of the CMSSW environment).

Code and tags

We suggest the following tags for the corresponding CMSSW releases:

  • CMSSW_3_1_X : work on-going
  • CMSSW_2_2_X : HeavyFlavorAnalysis/InclB V00-00-01

How to run the InclB analyzer

The analyzer uses RECO or AOD format as input. The information of interest is dumped in an output-ROOT file by running an individual module for each object. The modules are configured using the * in the HeavyFlavorAnalysis/InclB/python folder.

An example python configuration file is provided in HeavyFlavorAnalysis/InclB/test/ In this example the information dumped into the ROOT file contains:

  • Generated event
  • Tracks
  • GenJets
  • CaloJets
  • TrackJets
  • Muons
  • Primary vertex
  • Trigger information (trigger bits and muon trigger objects)

In the following an example on how to run the analyzer is given (CMSSW_2_2_X):

cvs co -r V00-01-00-lea AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects

cvs co -r V00-00-01 HeavyFlavorAnalysis/InclB

cd AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects/

make all

cd ../../HeavyFlavorAnalysis/InclB/

scramv1 b

cd test

nice cmsRun

Parameter settings

The parameters are defined in the individual configuration files in the HeavyFlavorAnalysis/InclB/python folder

Output (format)

The output format is a ROOT tree containing the information in the format given by AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects.

How to run the analyzer on the grid

No special instructions are needed to run the InclB analyzer with crab, so please refer to SWGuideCrab.
