Upsilon measurement using the Upsilon2MuMu analyzer

Purpose of analyzer

The aim of the Upsilon2MuMu analyzer is to determine the muon selection efficiencies at low momenta by using Upsilon1S and J/Psi resonances.

Code and tags

  • CMSSW_3_1_X : Work on going
  • CMSSW_2_2_6 : HeavyFlavorAnalysis/Upsilon2MuMu HEAD

Configuration files

A python configuration file is provided in the python directory:

The outcome of the Upsilon2MuMu analyzer is an tree with all the information you need to make an efficiency study. But you need an additional package (AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects) to run on the ntuple and produce plots..

How to run the analyzer

An example:

The following works on lxplus:

   mkdir ~/testreleases
   cd ~/testreleases/
   scramv1 project CMSSW CMSSW_2_2_6
   cd CMSSW_2_2_6/src
   eval `scramv1 runtime -csh`
   cmscvsroot CMSSW

   cvs co -r HEAD HeavyFlavorAnalysis/Upsilon2MuMu
   cvs co -r V02-02-00 AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects
   cd AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects/
   make all
   cd -
   scramv1 b

Now run FAMOS and the analysis code (ntuple dumper) in one go:
    cd HeavyFlavorAnalysis/Upsilon2MuMu/python

   cd ../../../AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects/test
   ../bin/runMyReader -f ../../../HeavyFlavorAnalysis/Upsilon2MuMu/python/bla.root
      TFile f("bla.defaults.root")

Important Remark: The latest version of AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects has not committed to CVS yet!!

Although the example above works fine, it doesn't produce the plots that you see in the analysis note. I'm going to migrate my reader/ana stuff (that are in AnalysisDataFormats/HeavyFlavorObjects/) to a macros subdirectory in the Upsilon2MuMu package so that checking out Upsilon2MuMu would be enough to reproduce everything.
