DB Tag Collector for the Global-Tag (GTC)

With system proxy settings, without ssh tunneling

With ssh tunneling

Starting from the release 44X the inclusion of tags in the GT is handled by this new tool:

NOTE: while debugging the tool please continue sending the usual mails to the hn as described here

The authentication system exploits the CERN Single Sign-on system. As a consequence you will need your NICE/AFS password to login on the site.

Accessing the GTC from outside the CERN network

Currently the GTC is not directly accessible from outside CERN. You will need to setup a tunnel through ssh to be able to browse it.

An example of configuration is:

ssh -D 9999 ${USER}@lxplus.cern.ch

Instead of 9999 you can use other ports (bigger than 1024).

You than need to set the proxy in your browser. E.g in firefox:

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings
Set SOCKS computer localhost, port 9999 and check SOCKS v5.

Firefox Connection Settings

NOTE: if your connection uses a proxy, disable it by leaving blank all the proxy fields but the SOCKS one to make all connections through the tunnel.

After that go to https://gtc-prod.cern.ch

Further details on tunneling can be found @:

Testing the tool

A test queue called TEST has been created. Feel free to experiment the tag submission queuing changes for this fake GT cycle.

Please report any problem you might experince to the AlCa hypernews.
