Corrected Electrons

An area for Offline Guide information

A new electron producer has been written in order to take into account the effect of the ECAL misalignement on electron reconstruction. This producer takes as input the GsfElectronCollection and produce a new electron collection with corrected values for track-supercluster matching variables. ATTENTION: in order to keep the producer as simple as possible only the involved variables are replaced so this collection must be used carefully (e.g. using the SC information through the stored reference gives the original, hence not corrected, SC position).

To produce the new electron collection is enough to check out:
RecoEgamma/EgammaTools V00-05-05
The code has been tested on CMSSW_3_6_1_patch4. The correction parameters are in python/ and are in the form:
scPositionCorrectionEBPlus  = cms.vdouble(x1, y1, z1),
scPositionCorrectionEBMinus = cms.vdouble(x2, y2, z2),
scPositionCorrectionEEPlus  = cms.vdouble(x3, y3, z3),
scPositionCorrectionEEMinus = cms.vdouble(x4, y4, z4)

We propose to use the following values obtained by the ES alignment group

scPositionCorrectionEEPlus  = cms.vdouble(0.52, -0.81, 0.81),
scPositionCorrectionEEMinus = cms.vdouble(-0.02, -0.81, -0.94)

In the test directory you can find an example on how to run the producer which will store in the EventContent a new collection called:

The same module name ("gsfElectrons") has been used so that it will be possible to use all the Electron tools (e.g. electron identification) without changing the collection name. For further information on how to re-run eID please look into specific ElectronIdentification selection twiki:
