Full Framework

Connection on "sqlite_file:/afs/cern.ch/user/n/nart/scratch0/CMSSW_3_7_0_patch4/src/CmsHi/CMS.JulyExercise/data/CentralityTables.db" cannot be established ( CORAL : "ConnectionPool::getSessionFromNewConnection" from "CORAL/Services/ConnectionService" )

The path you have specified as your centrality db file is wrong. Please provide the full path:

  • no ~/
  • no shell variables (like $CMSSW_BASE)

MetaData::getToken: metadata entry "HFhits40_DataJulyExercise_Hydjet2760GeV_MC_37Y_V5_NZS_v0" does not exists

Means you are asking for a tag that does not exist in the db file you're using. Possibly a typo in your cfg in the line:

 tag = cms.string('HFhits40_DataJulyExercise_Hydjet2760GeV_MC_37Y_V5_NZS_v0')

tmp/slc5_ia32_gcc434/src/PackageName/YourPackage/src/PackageNameYourPackage/libPackageNameYourPackage.so: undefined reference to `CentralityBins::getBin(double) const'

tmp/slc5_ia32_gcc434/src/PackageName/YourPackage/src/PackageNameYourPackage/libPackageNameYourPackage.so: undefined reference to `typeinfo for reco::Centrality'

You are missing lines from your BuildFile. Make sure that your BuildFile contains the following:

<use name=root>
<use name=rootrflx>
<use name=FWCore/Framework>
<use name=FWCore/PluginManager>
<use name=FWCore/ParameterSet>
<use name=FWCore/Utilities>
<use name=CommonTools/UtilAlgos>
<use name=DataFormats/Candidate>
<use name=DataFormats/CMS.HcalRecHit>
<use name=DataFormats/Common>
<use name=DataFormats/HeavyIonEvent>
<use name=CondFormats/HIObjects>
<use name=CondFormats/DataRecord>
<use name=CondCore/DBCommon>
<use name=CondCore/DBOutputService>

Cond-MetaData table does not exist: please initialize

If using a private offline db file, the CMSSW release that the db file is produced and the release that user is using may not be compatible. Need to reproduce db file in the right version.

FWLite

Segmentation violation in RunMap[run]->getBin(hf) or similar.

The map couldn't get the associated centrality table from the root file. This can be for three reasons:

  • File does not exist - wrong path etc.
  • Wrong tag - typo etc.
  • The run range you have specified when initializing the map does not contain the run you are analyzing.

Symbol G__exception is not defined

The EDProduct you're trying to access, either reco::Centrality, or other object in the event, does not exist. Unfortunately FWLite doesn't tell you enough about the error as cmsRun does (ProductNotFound).
