Pi0Tau CVS

This subsystem contains the modules to reconstruct tau objects from tracks and pi0s. The tracks are general CKF tracks and the pi0s are nothing but photons from ParticleFlowCandidates. Pi0Tau is designed to be a basic testing ground to study tau algorithm. This does not start from looking at jets, but instead looking at relatively high pT tracks unlike other tau reconstruction algorithm. There are many flexible options to choose the size of signal cone and isolation cone. There is also flexibility to choose using deltaR or 3D angle for cone definition.

Pi0Tau is a general framework to study tau reconstruction. It starts from selecting a seed track which is a track with certain threshold (>5.0 GeV). Then two cones are defined around it, called the signal cone and isolation cone. Once two cones are defined with certain sizes, all tracks and pi0s are associated within those cones. The tracks and pi0s in signal cone are considered as constituents of a tau object and those between signal and isolation cone are considered as veto criteria. After associating tracks and pi0s, all necessary variables for tau identification are calculated.

Objects in Pi0Tau are not persistent. The final products are just variables to be used for analysis, which means that users should run this package on the fly.

Classes and modules

There are many classes defined in Pi0Tau CVS (check here to view source codes from LXR). The Pi0 CVS defines the data type of pi0 objects to be used in this package. The Pi0Algo CVS defines some algorithms to identify pi0 objects. The Tau3D CVS defines tau objects with tracks and pi0s association and the Tau3DAlgo CVS defines how to associate them. The TauVariables CVS defines several useful tau variables to be used in analysis. All these classes are intermediate. Any object persistency is not supported for this package.
