Goal of the page

This page contains several tools not described in other pages that can be useful, either in analyses or in vertex reconstruction itself

The VertexDistance

The VertexDistance classes calculates the distance and compatibility between two vertices. With a momentum vector, it can also calculate the signed distance. It can be used with any combination of reco::Vertex and VertexState. The TransientVertex, CachingVertex and KinematicVertex all provide methods to get the VertexState.

VertexDistance3D vertTool;
double distance = vertTool.distance(vert1, vert2).value();
double dist_err = vertTool.distance(vert1, vert2).error();
double chi2 = vertTool.compatibility(vert1, vert2);
