Event Content Visualization Tutorial

Basic Concepts

CMS event contains multiple event data collections. Every event data collection is uniquely identified by for labels: a friendly name, a module label, an instance name and a process name. Iguana queries the event content and builds a dynamic tree of Twigs, where one Twig represents one data collection.

Based on a run-time configuration, e.g. which iglets are loaded, Iguana may or may not be capable of displaying certain data collection types. The Twigs which correspond to an unknown data collection type are grayed out.

Iglet - a.k.a. content proxy, an Iguana plug-in module holding a collection of Twigs. Iglet can be loaded at run-time and it will define capabilities of an Iguana application.

Twig - an Iguana class defining how to display a data collection in various views: 3D, RPhi, RZ, Lego, etc. Usually, there is one Twig per data collection type.

Event Data Collection Browser

The event data collection browser is a part of a Tree Browser. Mouse click on the "Event Data Collections" bar in the tree browser as shown beneath:

Configuring Dynamic Twigs Visibility

It is possible to set the Twig visible in the configuration file as described here by adding a full name of the Twig to EnabledTwigs list, for example:

service = VisConfigurationService
 untracked vstring  EnabledTwigs = {
  '/Objects/Event Collections/Alias (Friendly Name + Module Label + Instance Name + Process Name)/Gsf Tracks (recoGsfTracks + "GsfElectrons" + "" + "Rec")'

Known Data Collection Types

The full list of iglets and types is available here.
