CMS SAM Frontier test

Overview

Verify that FroNTier framework works at the site running a CMSSW application that reads calibration data from ORCOFF via FroNTier. Verifies that CMSSW application at the site can correctely discover and use Squid proxy information from local configuration file.

Checks

The test checks:
  • Stop that the CMS software directory ($VO_CMS_SW_DIR for EGEE and $OSG_APP/cmssoft/cms for OSG) is defined
  • Stop that the CMS software initialisation script (cmsset_default.sh) can be sourced without errors
  • Stop that scramv1 is in the path
  • Stop that the required CMSSW version is installed
  • Stop that the $CMS_PATH/SITECONF/local/JobConfig/site-local-config.xml file exists
  • ALERT! that a ping to the Squid server specified in the site-local-config.xml file succeeds (*)
  • Stop that cmsRun does not exit with an error when trying to download the ECAL pedestals from FroNTier
  • Stop that the connection to the Squid server does not time out
  • ALERT! that the Squid server is not down or unreachable and that it produces a good response
  • Stop that there are no other errrors

  • ALERT!: failure of this check generates a WARNING

Notes

(*) unless the Squid server is cms-squid.gridpp.rl.ac.uk, as RAL is blocking pings from offsite. On March 13, 2012 the test was changed to ignore ping problems and not generate a WARNING.
