Photon Object Collections CMSSW210 and 21X series

In CMSSW210 there are 2 collections of objects stored in the RECO, i.e.

  • the Photon collection which contains preselected Photons (Et and H/E cut)
  • the Conversion collection in which all SuperClusters with Et > 6 GeV are considered for conversion track finding. The final object contains information about tracks and conversion vertex

The corrected Photon collection is called recoPhotons_photons__Rec

The Conversion collection is called recoConversion_conversions__Rec

Example of Photon Analysis in CMSSW210 and 21X series

In RecoEgamma/Examples/plugins you can find CMS.SimplePhotonAnalyzer.cc , a very basic example of analysis on Photons. In the constructor of the analyzer the names of the collections and of the module which produced them are accessed. They are configurable and set in a configuration file, simplePhotonAnalyzer_cfi.py , which is located in RecoEgamma/Examples/python.

To run the analyzer:

cd test
cmsRun CMS.SimplePhotonAnalyzer_cfg.py

A root file, called photonAnalyzer.root will be output in the same directory. The file name can be set by the CMS.SimplePhotonAnalyzer.py:

process.TFileService = cms.Service("TFileService",
    fileName = cms.string('simplePhotonAnalysis.root')

)
