Welcome to the Compass/Trigger web

COMPASS Trigger and Trigger Control System

The COMPASS trigger system consists of a first level trigger and a Trigger Control System(TCS). The main task of the first level trigger is to find and select potentially interesting physics events during the data taking with muon and hadron beams. Due to the wide-spread physics programm of COMPASS several trigger subsystems work in parallel to select e.g. DIS events with muon beams or diffractive and centrally produced events with hadron beams. For details cf. the available topics below. The Trigger Control System distributes the first level trigger, provides a synchronous timing inside a spill and broadcasts a relevant information for a data flow control and an event building. The design of the system is based on Time Trigger Control system.
