Day program, Monday 18th July

  • PWO matrix, electron beam
  • Check if each ancillary detector is working well
  • Find centre of the matrix (Xtal2)
  • Calibration: beam in the centre of each crystal
  • Looking for goodness of electron beam (offline)

Shifter instructions:

  • How to take a run:

/home/dreamtest >  daq

/home/dreamtest >  daq DRS

  • How to change the number of events in the run
/home/dreamtest >  export MAXEVENT Nevents

it will start 4 shells automatically with data taking

  • Monitoring

To create pedestal plots for the run XXX:

/home/dreamtest > doOfflineHisto XXX pedestal      
To create plots for data from run XXX :
 /home/dreamtest > doOfflineHisto XXX data      
  
To open a root file with pedestal plots:
 /home/dreamtest >  root /home/dreamtest/working/hbook/datafile_histo_pedestal_runXXX.root  
 
To open a root file with plots:
root /home/dreamtest/working/hbook/datafile_histo_runXXX.root  
 

Monitoring code:

working/DreamDaq/dreammon.c
 

  • DRS in stand-alone with waveump

      * ssh pcdreamdaq
      *cd /home/dreamtest/wavedump2root
      * WaveDump
 
It will open the stand alone program, then you should type command you need: - s: start - P: it will start the graphics -W: it will write events in a file, in order to do plots -T if you want a random trigger

In order to read text files and create ntuples:

convert_all.sh

Then open root files and look at:

DRS.Draw("integral >> h(NumberOfBins)")

IN order to edit wavedump script (from pcdreamdaq):

/etc/wavedump/WavedumpConfig.txt

Trouble shooting

*DAQ freezing:

 ssh pcdreamdaq.cern.ch
cleanDAQ

VME crate power resetted

    • If the power of VME crate switches off, you need to set threshold of V258 discriminators
