Assignments

With the move to product teams, certain responsibilities are being devolved from 'SA3 Central', but without a simultaneous redistribution of resources. To compensate, 'SA3 Central' people are being logically assigned to various product teams.

This will be done in two different ways. Where the Product Team has no (or very little) existing SA3 contributions, the assignee will be a full part of the team, under the management of the Product Team Leader, up to a certain contribution level. In this case, the precise terms of the assignment will be agreed between CERN and the PT Leader in question (with TMB approval if necessary).

Where the Product Team already has SA3 effort, the assignment is purely advisory, in order to help transfer knowledge. The assignee will not be performing the work of the Product Team, such as certifying patches.
