Minutes of Meeting
Title: Analysis of existing CMS-specific SAM tests
Date: 11/1/2008
Location: CERN
Attendees: Antonio Retico, Nicholas Thackray, Andrea Sciaba'
1) deployment of CMS tests in the interop platform
- CMS is not deploying VO software on ITB sites, nor it is in the
plans to do it. Therefore not all the CMS tests are meaningful for
application in the platform
- One possibility would be to run tests from the new clients (meaning
a UI with a newer gLite version used to submit the SAM tests) towards
the production sites . This has to be done carefull however, because
CMS does not want the aggreagated availability reports to be affected
by possible failures coming from the platform. So CMS excludes to run
such tests using the same name.
- Part of the checks run by CMS, however, are quite general and the
results potentially useful to any other Vos. In particular :
- CE Sensor - CMS SW area tests - CMS MC test --> part of the initial tests are generally useful
This test does a file copy from the WN to the local SRM via either srmcp
or a local protocol (rfio, dcap, POSIX). Probably both mechanisms should
be tested in the interop version of the test (possibly using two separate
tests).
- SRM Sensor - srmcp from UI to WN and back using SRMv1 - There are some SRMv2 tests currently being developed for CMS, but most probably they will also use the lcg_util and not srmcp.
- A strategy could be to develop a simplified copy of these tests with
different names (this should be done by the interop WG (who?
Emanouil?)). Then, once they are verified, to deploy them in the PPS
SAM instance (RAL or CYFRONET, to be checked) or in the system set up by
Emanouil. An interface between CMS and interop would have to be defined
in order to synchronise the maintenance of these tests
According to Andrea, changes will be very unfrequent. He will communicate
to the interop WG any relevant changes.
2) CMS reckons however useful the idea of having at least one
OSG ITB
site fully supporting the VO software.
- this particular IT site will have to be visible in the production
BDII.
- In the next meeting this request will be moved to
OSG
