Interoperability Status
OverView
An general approach to interoperation is described in this
paper
. The strategies and plans for interoperation between EGEE and other infrastructure is outlined in
MDS3.3.
OSG
Seamless interoperation between EGEE and OSG has been achieved. The activity is described in this
CHEP paper
. A list of
LDAP URLs
that represent the OSG sites is automatically generated from the OSG GOC DB. This list is concatenated with the LCG list, to create the WLCG list. The glite clients are available as a packman package which can be installed by OSG site admins. OSG receives EGEE broadcast messages which enable them to find out when new versions of the gLite clients are released.
To ensure that interoperability is maintained, OSGs Integration Testbed (ITB) and EGEEs (PPS) have been joined inorder to verify the new releases. A representative from OSG attends the weekly
Operations Meeting. In addition there is a specific meeting between OSG and EGEE every two weeks and the minutes can be found
here
.
Nordic DataGrid Facility
An initial meeting between EGEE and NDGF took place at CERN on the 31st August 2005. Solutions were define along three different time horizons; short, medium and long. An
email list was created to facilitate communication. This activity is described in this
CHEP paper
and was an official interoperability activity took place during EGEE II, which is described in
MSA3.4
and
DSA3.2
. Any large sites that would like o contribute to WLCG on the short to medium term should deploy the glite CE and SE in parallel with the ARC CE. EGEE and NDGF recognize the need for open standards in grid computing and are working together with the wider grid community to ensure that the long term vision is met.
After some initial investigations relating to linking the information systems carried out by EGEE as part of the
GIN info
activity, NDGF created and are maintaining the ARC BDII (bdii.ndgf.org). This BDII uses a modified information provider that translates information from the Nordugrid schema to the Glue information model. The mapping between the Glue information model and the Nordugrid schema is described in the
arc infosys mapping
document. A
dynamic web page
has been set up to list the LDAP URLs of all sites in the NDGF.
The WMS has been modified to match ARC resources and submit jobs to ARC CEs. Details on installing and configuring a WMS to provide this functionality can be found
here. To successfully run jobs from EGEE the gLite environments will need to be added to the Cluster, details for doing this can be found
here
NAREGI
An initial
meeting
was held at CERN March 20-22 2006. An activity
mailing list was created to facilitate communications and
Kazushige Saga is the main contact. Work is currently on hold until the NAREGI infrastructure is up and running.
Unicore
An official EGEE/Unicore interoperability activity was carried out during EGEE II and an initial meeting for this activity took place at FZJ 21-22 August 2006. The activity is described in
MSA3.3
and final status is reported in
DSA3.2
.
