Joining a VO

The VO Managers of each Virtual Organization (VO) control who can become a member of that VO and thus who can use the resources attributed to that VO. Membership is limited to those people who have similar aims to the VO and work compatible with the VO's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

  • Consult the list of existing VOs to find one with aims similar to yours. If there are none, then you may consider creating a new VO.
  • Review the description of the VO and its AUP to be sure that you are eligible to join the VO. (Follow the "details..." link in the list.)
  • To register, follow the link to the secured section of the CIC Portal on the "details..." page. You must have your personal certificate loaded into your browser.
  • On the VO information page, follow the "enrollment" link.
  • The VO Manager will check that you are eligible to join the VO and approve your request. As this is a manual step it may take some time. If you don't have a response in a couple of days, email the VO Manager directly to ensure that your request has been received.
