Registering a Virtual Organization

To ensure that EGEE is aware of the scientific activity taking place on the grid, all Virtual Organizations (VOs) are encouraged to register with the project. The registration procedure will provide EGEE with the appropriate contacts within the VO to get information about the use of the grid and the needs of the VO. Technical information given during the registration is used to configure sites and simplifies authorizing a VO to use a site, hence making it easier to increase the resources available to a VO.

Registration

• Using his or her personal certificate, the VO Manager should register the new VO via the CIC Portal. This process will require a description of the VO, an Acceptable Use Policy, and a DNS-style name for the VO. You may request the necessary VOMS server during the registration.
• You will be contacted by the VO Support team if any clarifications are needed.
• Once the information has been verified, the VO will be moved to an "active" state in the portal.

Audience: VO managers of unregistered VOs.

NA4 personnel will be made aware of this procedure so that they can inform people from unregistered VOs of this procedure when they have contact from users or VO managers from thse VOs.
