Requesting Resources

The EGEE grid infrastructure federates the computational resources of the Virtual Organizations (VOs) using the infrastructure. Consequently, VOs are expected to integrate their computing and storage resources with the grid infrastructure at a level roughly equivalent to their average use. The project can, however, help with the deployment and operation of core services. Also, sites and other VOs with spare capacity are often willing to grant access to those VOs that need more resources. In both cases, the Resource Allocation Group (RAG) will manage resource requests.

Resource Requests

The Resource Allocation Group (RAG) manages requests for additional resources. To contact this group, a VO manager must open a Global Grid User Support (GGUS) ticket. To speed the request, the VO manager should assign the ticket to the RAG support unit. Please include the following information in the request:

  • Name of the VO making the request.
  • Services and/or resources requested.
  • Preferences (if any) on where the services and/or resources are located.
  • List of your resources that could be shared with cooperating sites/VOs.
You will be kept informed of the progress of the request through the GGUS ticket.

Dissemination of Procedure

Audience: VO managers of existing VOs.

The VO Support team leader will periodically remind the VO managers of this procedure.
