The Staged Roll-Out of Grid Middleware is a process defined within the EGEE Beta Grid Services.
The aim of this process is to protect the production environment against possibly broken updates.
Before the middleware updates are released to the public, they are delivered to a number of selected production (and pre-production) sites.
The sites apply the update to one or more of their grid services and provide feedback to the release managers.
The process of early adoption is described in "Staged roll-out of grid middleware: general lines"[1] .
The corresponding operational release procedure for middleware updates is detailed in "Staged roll-out of grid middleware: Release Procedure"[2] .
