- dynamic installation is needed by at least one application; they do it currently on the VOBox which should be replaced by a generic service
- many possibilities: develop a package manager or adopt the AliEn package manager; using squid, tank and spark
- also other applications need this - they work around this right now so it is not highest priority for now
