gLite Release News
gLite 3.1 Update 46 release last week. Includes DPM and LFC 1.7. DPM 1.7 includes changes needed for correct publishing of installed storage capacity at sites using this SE. Therefore all WLCG sites are strongly encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible. This update also included updates to the VOMS client. This wasn't originally intended, but RPM dependencies made it necessary.
The gLite 3.2 UI (on 64 bit SL5) will be moving to the PPS this week.
EGEE Items From ROC Reports
None this week.
Upcoming Grid Service Interventions
Consult links on the agenda page.
IN2P3: Want to add that there will be a degradation of the dCache service in the first week of June, for a whole week. Due to a significant upgrade to the MSS.
Update on down-times in the GOCDB
Interface to Down-time functionality in the GOCDB changed recently:
Declaration date is automatically filled.
Each down-time is flagged as Scheduled or Unscheduled automatically, depending on the notice given before the down-time and the duration of the downtime. Note: There is a bug on the current system (fixed in the next system update), which means that any down-time of exactly 4 hours is classified as Unscheduled if it is entered into the system less than 1 week in advance (the limit should be 24 hours).
Grid Operations tools always have to declare down-time at least 2 weeks in advance.
RSS notifications are sent at the following points:
At the minimum declaration time (so either 24 hours or 1 week before the downtime starts for sites; 2 weeks before downtime starts for grid operations tools)
When the downtime actually starts
When the downtime actually ends
Note: When a downtime is extended, the classification of the down-time is not automatically updated. This is work in progress.
Nick: When a down-time on the GOCDB is altered, are new RSS messages sent out? Gille: Yes (according to the Operations Portal team in Lyon).
Last week there was a new release of the Operations Portal, which included changes to the regional dashboard. All regions using this functionality are encouraged to read the release notes.
