WLCG-OSG-EGEE Ops' Minutes Mon 24 Aug 2009

Summary

  • Last reminder that the default DPM used for SAM tests will be upgraded to SL4 and that sites with obsolete client S/W will start failing tests. There are still 11 CEs failing.
  • At the TMB on 05/08/2009 it was agreed that SAM MPI tests should be re-instated and results followed up. They will go through validation first, for a shorter period, as they had gone through validation before. All sites are requested to check the validation results and follow up.
  • WLCG MB agreed on 4th of August to ask for the SL5 migration at all Sites, including the Tier-2 Sites. A web page is available to provide pointers to the relevant information to support the migration, including links to the necessary packages. (https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LCG/SL4toSL5wnMigration). It is understood that the Experiments are all ready and able to use SL5 resources.

EGEE Items From ROC Reports

  • INFO: GridKa is going to move the remaining SL4 worker nodes (WNs) to SL5 starting next Monday (August 24) with the exception of the Babar share. After Friday 28th August SL4 WNs will no longer be available for WLCG VOs at GridKa.
  • OUTAGE: 24.08.09 7:00 am - 9:00 am UTC Due to cluster upgrade to SL5 next week two more CEs get configured to point to SL5. The ce-3-fzk and cream-1-fzk will be unavailable in the information system for the time. No jobs will be lost.
  • OUTAGE: 25.08.09 8:00 am - 8:30 am UTC Due to a necessary update of the SRM services, atlassrm-fzk.gridka.de and gridka-dCache.fzk.de will be down for up to 30 minutes. This downtime will only affect the SRM but no other dCache services!

SAM default DPM upgrade

Last reminder that the default DPM used for SAM tests will be upgraded to SL4 and that sites with obsolete client S/W will start failing tests. In Validation, replica management tests use lxdpm101.cern.ch as the default SE.
In Production, lxdpm104.cern.ch (SL3) is used. In the very near future, lxdpm104 will be upgraded and, if nothing is done, the following eleven CEs will fail the CE-sft-lcg-rm-rep SAM test:

ce.grid.hku.hk (lcg-cp --version fails)
dg10.cc.kek.jp (lcg-cp --version fails)
host001.hpc.ntcu.edu.tw (lcg-cp --version fails)
atlasce.phys.sinica.edu.tw (lcg-cp --version fails)
bigmac-lcg-ce2.physics.utoronto.ca (lcg_util-1.6.11; GFAL-client-1.10.11)
ingrid.cism.ucl.ac.be (lcg_util-1.6.11; GFAL-client-1.10.11)
kriit.eenet.ee (lcg-cp --version fails)
ce01.macc.unican.es (lcg_util-1.6.11; GFAL-client-1.10.11)
e-ce.iaa.es (lcg_util-1.6.8; GFAL-client-1.10.8)
ce.glite.ecdf.ed.ac.uk (lcg_util-1.6.8; GFAL-client-1.10.8)
mw05.ecdf.ed.ac.uk (lcg_util-1.6.8; GFAL-client-1.10.8)

When dealing with obsolete clients, the CE-sft-lcg-rm-rep test displays lcg_rep: Invalid argument.

Worker nodes should typically be displaying the following version info:
lcg_util-1.7.4-1
GFAL-client-1.11.6-2

The minimum versions that will pass the replica management test once the DPM is upgraded will be 1.7.2-1, but sites are encouraged to run the latest versions of gLite software.

SAM MPI tests will be activated

At the TMB on 05/08/2009 it was agreed that SAM MPI tests should be re-instated and results followed up. They will go through validation first, for a shorter period, as they had gone through validation before.

SL5 Rules, OK?

WLCG MB agreed on 4th of August to ask for the SL5 migration at all Sites, including the Tier-2 Sites. A web page is available to provide pointers to the relevant information to support the migration, including links to the necessary packages. (https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LCG/SL4toSL5wnMigration). It is understood that the Experiments are all ready and able to use SL5 resources.
